Tornfelt’s “Becoming” does what all the best albums do- makes me wonder if we’re all truly the same after all. Every song is so relatable- the whole collection feels autobiographical. As another songwriter implied— as if she’d found my letters and was (singing) them out loud.
It’s so tempting to get lost in the emotionality and spirituality of the album, but then her voice lilts or the key changes in such a way that I am woke from my revery to be present and witness to a skilled, experienced musician with a unique and flawless voice. “Becoming” is a full body experience of self- awareness, self- assurance, self- expression, and self- love. And it’s for all of us.
